Full-Day Trip from Brno: Hallstatt, Melk Abbey and Gmunden in One Day

Leave Brno early in the morning and return late in the evening filled with memories. In a single day you will travel through the Austrian countryside, visit the baroque Melk Abbey, the romantic lakeside Ort Castle in Gmunden, and the famous Hallstatt in the heart of the Salzkammergut.

Morning stop: Melk Abbey above the Danube

After arriving in Melk you will see the Benedictine abbey high on a cliff above the Danube. You will have about one and a half hours to explore the famous library with more than 100,000 volumes, the Marble Hall and the terrace overlooking the Wachau Valley. Abbey admission is not included in the transfer price.

Second stop: Gmunden and Ort Castle

We continue to Gmunden on the shore of Lake Traunsee. Ort Castle stands on a small island connected by a wooden footbridge – a perfect spot for photos with an Alpine backdrop. For about one and a half hours you can walk along the lake, enjoy coffee with mountain views, or visit the castle interiors for a small entrance fee.

Trip highlight: Hallstatt

In the afternoon you will spend time in the heart of Hallstatt, a UNESCO-listed village. You will have about four hours of free time: strolling along narrow lakeside alleys, visiting the church and cemetery, the Bone House chapel with painted skulls, taking a boat ride on the lake, or riding the funicular up to the Skywalk. After an afternoon full of photos and experiences, you return to Brno, arriving around 11 PM.
